Click to view details Momo Team steering wheel installation
Installation of a '90-'97 Momo hub on a '99- is not very straightforward, but it can be done with some patience.
Click to view details Steering column
More details on the fitment of the steering column and dashboard. This was a tedious job. A lot of trimming to be done on the scuttle, dashboard, instrument cluster and steering column plastic parts. At first, everything squeeked a bit, but after some more trimming around the instrument cluster, the squeeking stopped. Let's hope it doesn't come back when I'm driving the car.

Pics of the transmission and driveline.  The rear diff looks brand spanking new.  Clearly a very low mileage donor!

The European NB has a different header than the US NB. We have a 4-2-1 type header which flows a lot better but doesn't fit the Westfield. I thought the US NB header would be a direct fit, but it turns out it won't either. I'll definitely need to use the NA header. The NA header does not have a bung for the O2 sensor though, so I'll need to weld one in.

I managed to buy a brand new genuine Mazdaspeed turbo. The other parts are used but in perfect shape. They only need some cleaning up. The plan is to install this on the Westfield when it's up and running. Probably next year or so. This album also contains some pictures of the modifications I had to do to install the turbo.

I cleaned up the engine, but haven't decided yet on what I'll do with the intake and valve cover. I might have them powercoated in the same color as the body. I asked Westfield for the color code, but they said there isn't one.
Click to view details Washer bottle and Main fuse box
It's a tight fit, but with some aluminum brackets, the washer bottle, main fuse box and all relays fit inside the frame triangle. Both the fuse box and the washer bottle can easily be removed if needed. I used rivserts for the fuse box as well as the upper mounting bracket from the washer bottle. The bottle's lower mounting bracket uses a grommet from the MX5. On the MX5, it was used for the heater tubes at the firewall and it turns out to be a perfect fit for the washer bottle.
I first used a '00 RHD wiring loom, but since I had a '99 LHD wiring loom as well, I decided to use that instead. Both wiring looms are a direct swap.
Click to view details Pedal Box
The pedal box supplied by Westfield works but its pedal ratio is 3.3:1 versus 6.3:1 on a stock MX5. The result is a very stiff clutch and little pedal travel. The master cilinder mounting point has to be moved upwards by 30mm to get the proper pedal ratio. Out comes the grinder and welder :).
Westfield doesn't feel anything is wrong with the pedal box.
Click to view details Body Panels
I've started fitting the body panels. Think I got a wrong set of panels.
Click to view details Indicator Stalk
I decided to install the steering wheel in the center of the instrument cluster (Westfield installs it out of center to clear the left door). That meant that I had to shorten the indicator stalk to clear the door. Obviously, I did both of them. I shortened the left one by 2cm and the right one by 1cm (more was not possible).
